For years George Karl has been about himself. He wants to be the star. No matter who the true face of the franchise is, whether it’s Carmelo Anthony or now DeMarcus Cousins, in Karl’s mind, the only true face of the franchise is his own.
That number five Raptors coach Dwane Casey is holding up can now mean he’s back for a fifth season in Toronto.
And while some may be happy to keep a coach who’s helped lead this team to back-to-back playoff appearances they should also realize their ceiling has already been reached and next season probably won’t be any better.
In fact, it’ll probably be worse.
Will they open their war chest of future draft picks to try to pry DeMarcus Cousins away from the Sacramento via trade? The early word out there is: Bank on it.
